A fall news update

Hello everyone and Happy Fall!  I am usually such a summer baby that this time of year is bittersweet.  I mean I love pumpkin pie and all but I love the beach more.  Except of course for this year.  This tiny heat generating baby-to-be I have been carrying around makes anything over 72 degrees seem like a sauna in hell.  I have never spent so much time in the air conditioner inside in my life.  This cooler weather is making me so happy.

In addition to the weather there are so many things to look forward to in the next few months.  First of course is the baby which is due November 5th.  We call the baby Lemon since we aren’t finding out if it’s a boy or a girl.  My baby shower was so wonderful and we now have piles of baby stuff all over.  TB is still in awe that he owns a car seat and a stroller.  I am getting bigger by the minute which means I am becoming less and less help getting things done.  And TB keeps making these rules like ‘no climbing on ladders’ or ‘no carrying large pieces of furniture by myself’.  Worry wart.

We of course have to make room for this baby and all its stuff which means moving rooms and renovating.  Luckily the office we redid not that long ago is in good shape and we just have to move the office stuff out and the baby stuff in.  The problem is where we are moving the office to!  Our sunroom off the back of our house will now become our office.  Its not heated or finished so we are working on insulation and simple things like floors to make it a bit cozier back there.  The previous owners had installed a drop ceiling and terrible paneling for the walls.  We took all that down to find an awesome high sloped ceiling and original clapboards.  It’s going to be pretty awesome. I of course wasn’t allowed to help with any demo which about killed me.  I was allowed to stand there in a bathing suit (it was hot!) and safety glasses and watch while TB and my mom ripped things apart with my tools.  I will be updating here soon with pictures.

I have been working on the Lemon’s dresser too.  I bought it so long ago and I was so excited to get it done.  Between the fact that sanding in 100 degree weather wasn’t happening and being pushed off because there was other paying work to be done, it’s still in progress.  I have never had so much trouble with stain in my life.  I have applied a total of 5 coats to the top alone and have sanded it three times.  Safecoat stain is great because of all the toxic things it doesn’t have in it, but sometimes I find it can be frustrating to work with.

And last but certainly not least I have some great news to share with you.  On Saturday I signed a lease for booth space at the Honey Hole Antiques Shop in Keyport, NJ!!  I have been thinking about this for awhile and dragged TB to a bunch of places to see what felt right.  Then I got on the waiting lists around town and was pretty lucky the one I wanted was the one that opened up.  It’s a brand new shop so none of the booths look like stuff has been sitting there since the 1970s.  My mind is now racing with all the preparations.  I move in on October 5th which I think is perfect. I have two weeks to get everything together and set up and ready before I have the baby.

At least that’s the plan.  After all, the kid is mine so it probably won’t listen to reason and will show up whenever it feels like it.
