My name is Kelly, a.k.a. The Ridiculous Redhead.
Two days ago I left the corporate world of finance and the 4 hour a day commute (yes you read that right, 4 hours). This has been a long time coming and I can’t even begin to explain how nice it was to sleep in the last two days!
So now I set forth on this adventure which I will write about here and with any luck you as readers will enjoy hearing about. I will spend the bulk of my time and writing on:
1. Getting my small company rolling.
Kelly Sherman Design is devoted to taking things that someone might look at as an obsolete ugly duckling and making them not only useful, but beautiful again. I aim to do all of this using the most eco-friendly options available. This helps make a better environment for me to work in, a cleaner addition to its new home and its easier on the earth.
2. Working on my 1933 bungalow.
Almost 4 years ago I bought a lovely 1933 Craftman Bungalow that I fell in love with. As I first walked through the terribly ugly kitchen I said things like “It’s fine that the cabinets are falling apart! I will want to redo the whole thing to my taste anyway!” I said similar things in most of the other rooms too. The lovely thing about old houses is there is always something to do to them, hence we will never run out of things to talk about here.
Before we go any further, I must give you the disclaimer that I constantly think of new projects to do – constantly – and half the time I have no idea what I am doing. This is where the “Ridiculous” part of the title comes in.
ri·dic·u·lous (adj) – extremely silly or unreasonable (see also absurd, preposterous)
This word has been used by others to describe me and my latest gem of an idea more times that I care to count. (And I will admit there have been occasions where they were more than a little right.) But I have stubborn Scottish blood and I grew up with a mother who told me I could do anything. And I have The Google for research. Everything is going to be fine.
