{"id":1116,"date":"2013-03-08T17:47:22","date_gmt":"2013-03-08T22:47:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ridiculousredhead.com\/?p=1116"},"modified":"2014-07-07T21:14:30","modified_gmt":"2014-07-08T01:14:30","slug":"a-little-seed-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/ridiculousredhead.com\/?p=1116","title":{"rendered":"A little seed update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have been so excited to see something start growing from the seeds I have planted. \u00a0As I speak it is snowing outside but the seeds are marching on to becoming plants in spite of it!<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s start with the inside seeds. \u00a0As you might recall, they were planted on Feb 17 which if I can still count at this point in the day was 20 days ago. \u00a0They seemed to sprout really fast this year and I&#8217;m wondering what is in the soil I used.<\/p>\n<p>On the left we have the peppers, the middle are the Brandywine tomatoes and on the right is the basil.<\/p>\n<p><a onclick=\"javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('\/downloads\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Ridiculous-Redhead-seeds-030813.jpg');\"  href=\"http:\/\/ridiculousredhead.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Ridiculous-Redhead-seeds-030813.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1117\" title=\"Ridiculous Redhead seeds 030813\" src=\"http:\/\/ridiculousredhead.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Ridiculous-Redhead-seeds-030813-1024x787.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"670\" height=\"514\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ridiculousredhead.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Ridiculous-Redhead-seeds-030813-1024x787.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/ridiculousredhead.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Ridiculous-Redhead-seeds-030813-300x230.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 670px) 100vw, 670px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It seems that all the seeds I planted have sprouted. \u00a0 And no, I didn&#8217;t mean to plant so much basil in just two pots. \u00a0I must have spilled a bit when I got to those. \u00a0They will get thinned out soon enough, it&#8217;s just hard for me to throw any away. \u00a0All either have started or are close to starting on their first true leaves. \u00a0 I am still using the plastic covered sterno rack as greenhouse to keep the moisture in since it&#8217;s so dry in our house. \u00a0They are due for a drink now but it will only be the second time I have had to water them since planting.<\/p>\n<p>And now for the experiment &#8211; the winter sowing! \u00a0I wasn&#8217;t really sure what to expect or when to expect it with these seeds. \u00a0The arugula was the first to sprout. \u00a0The seeds are outside the office window and \u00a0I went to check on them.
