The class broke down different aspects of business from picking a name to figuring out how to balance home and work life. I am still working through the third week but it’s nice to be able to take my time. It’s very affordable so if you are interested, I highly recommend it.

One of the aspects of the class is branding which got me thinking a lot about where I am with the blog and the design business. I am still in the process of thinking but some things have started to come together. First up is the changes you see here. The old look with the red and retro lettering was great but not really me. When I picked it I had just started and I thought I should have something to go along with the redhead part. It was a free theme and easy to use. And it’s just been there ever since.

I started looking for a new theme to use that was more my style. I knew I wanted a cleaner look but with places to customize. I also didn’t want to spend a ton on a designer at this point because it’s not in the budget. So I looked around a lot. I finally decided on one that I would pay for and bought it. I was so happy. Then I learned I needed to be a rocket scientist to install it and get my info in. I am not a rocket scientist. I am also not very technical with code etc. So after some emails back and forth that didn’t really help, I found another theme. A theme that loaded, had my stuff and was easy to use. Maybe someday I will figure the other one out but for now I think I am right where I want to be.

While trying to figure out what direction I wanted to go in, I really tried to think of what this whole thing was all about. I like the clean lines without fuss. I like green both in color and in ecofriendlyness. So I am starting there. As I go I will add to this with a new logo (hopefully sooner than later) etc.

This is a picture I took of a page from Architectural Digest while getting a pedicure before vacation. I turned the page and thought “That’s it!!” It was the clean look, the green, the gray. I loved it. A few days later I found my new theme and new look.

There are still some kinks to work out. It seems I have to go through each post and pick a photo to be featured on the home page. Since I haven’t gotten too far on that I still show the gray box with the camera icon on a lot of the posts but bear with me. It’s a work in progress.

Let me know what you think!

So you may have noticed it looks a little different around here?
