It never really had a chance to grow before it was winter. \u00a0 It got cold and I never pulled it out of the ground. \u00a0Since it was so mild this year it never died off. \u00a0To my surprise, in the last few weeks this broccoli plant has started growing again. \u00a0Seriously, like it was a movie on pause and I hit the play button.<\/p>\n<p>To my surprise a little head of broccoli has started on one of the plants.<\/p>\n<p><a onclick=\"javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('\/downloads\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/IMG_0909.jpg');\"  href=\"http:\/\/ridiculousredhead.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/IMG_0909.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-615\" title=\"IMG_0909\" src=\"http:\/\/ridiculousredhead.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/IMG_0909-764x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"670\" height=\"898\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ridiculousredhead.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/IMG_0909-764x1024.jpg 764w, http:\/\/ridiculousredhead.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/IMG_0909-224x300.jpg 224w, http:\/\/ridiculousredhead.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/IMG_0909.jpg 1936w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 670px) 100vw, 670px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There are \u00a0two things that makes this rather funny to me. \u00a0One, I tried to grow broccoli last spring and the cabbage worms ate every last leaf on the plant in two days before they were 5 inches tall. \u00a0I came out one day and there were just green stems sticking out of the ground. \u00a0Two, I am going to rotate my crops this year (to avoid pests and disease) and the broccoli was going somewhere else. \u00a0 Here I want to put the tomatoes which don&#8217;t get along with broccoli.<\/p>\n<p>I have read that after you harvest the main head of broccoli you can leave the rest of the plant and smaller heads will grow from the stalk. \u00a0Since I had never gotten this far I had never seen it but low and behold it&#8217;s true! \u00a0Look at the little baby heads of broccoli starting further down the stalk!<\/p>\n<p><a onclick=\"javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('\/downloads\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/IMG_0913.jpg');\"  href=\"http:\/\/ridiculousredhead.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/IMG_0913.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-616\" title=\"IMG_0913\" src=\"http:\/\/ridiculousredhead.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/IMG_0913-1024x764.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"670\" height=\"499\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ridiculousredhead.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/IMG_0913-1024x764.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/ridiculousredhead.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/IMG_0913-300x224.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 670px) 100vw, 670px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And while I am excited to have finally grown broccoli it&#8217;s also completely messing up the garden plans I have been working on.
