Recently a friend of ours showed up at our house with his parents’ truck. \u00a0Inside were a bunch of wine crates that had served their purpose of protecting the wine bottles during shipping and had been headed for the trash. \u00a0 He figured I might like to make them into something. \u00a0Would I ever! \u00a0All of the crates are different in size and shape. \u00a0Some are a little beat up and some are really works of art with designs and stories burned into the wood. \u00a0 You will be seeing many of them on here very soon.<\/p>\n

So for our first wine crate project I present to you this side table. \u00a0The crate is from the Chateau Montelena Winery in Napa Valley and once held a nice little cabernet sauvignon. \u00a0 I have finished it with a clear coat of Vermont Natural Coatings PolyWhey for protection from wear and tear. \u00a0 Then I attached a set of legs that have been stained to match the burned wood wording and designs.<\/p>\n

The things that really caught my eye about\u00a0this crate was the intricate design burned into the top. \u00a0I love the look of the old building with the ivy crawling up it.<\/p>\n

This crate was meant for storage originally which also is a good feature to have in a table. \u00a0 The lid is made to hinge without any, well, hinges. \u00a0It keeps the outside lines smooth but makes the table an ideal place to throw things when you are having guests over and have no time to straighten up.<\/p>\n

It would also be a great place to you know, put down a glass of wine. \u00a0 This table is currently for sale over in my shop so click here to check it out. (UPDATE: The wine table is sold!)<\/p>\n
